Structure and floristic relationships between Cerrado sensu stricto sites on two types of substrate in northern Cerrado, Brazil. Biota Neotrop. (13)4: http://www.biotaneotropica.org.br/v13n4/en/abstract?article+bn02213042013 Abstract: We described and compared the floristic composition, richness, species diversity and structure of the tree-shrub component in pairs of Typical Cerrado (Cerrado Típico) and rocky outcrop Cerrado (Cerrado Rupestre) in two localities in Tocantins State. In each locality, we set up 10 plots of 20 × 50 m at a site, the Cerrado Típico and other Cerrado Rupestre, and sampled the individuals with Db 30cm ≥ 5 cm. The rocky outcrop Cerrado did not present any trend towards lower richness and basal area compared to the Cerrado on deep soil. Few species occurred across the four sites and only two important species (Anacardium occidentale and Qualea parviflora) in the four vegetation structure were common to both environments assessed. Furthermore, the occurrence of habitat-specialist species of rocky outcrops and high altitudes (Mimosa claussenii, Tibouchina papyrus, Schwartzia adamantium and Wunderlichia cruelsiana) and the high dissimilarity among sites suggest that altitude is the main responsible for the floristic dissimilarity, followed by the influence of substrate type. Therefore, the information with respect to phytophysiognomy type as a parameter to select areas for conservation, by itself, does not effectively ensure biodiversity preservation, owing to the existing flora heterogeneity not only at local but also at regional scale, revealed by the floristic and structural particularity of each site. Resumo: Descrevemos e comparamos a composição florística, a riqueza, a diversidade de espécies e a estrutura do componente arbustivo-arbóreo em pares de Cerrado Típico e Cerrado Rupestre em duas localidades no Estado de Tocantins. Em cada localidade, alocamos 10 parcelas de 20 × 50 m em um sítio de Cerrado Típico e em outro de Cerrado Rupestre e amostramos os indivíduos com Db 30cm ≥ 5 cm. Não identificamos tendência de que o Cerrado sobre solo raso com afloramentos rochosos tivesse riqueza e área basal inferiores ao Cerrado sobre solo profundo. Poucas espécies ocorreram nos quatro sítios e apenas duas espécies (Anacardium occidentale e Qualea parviflora) importantes para a estruturação das quatro vegetações foram comuns aos dois ambientes analisados. Aliado a isso, a ocorrência de espécies habitat-especialistas de ambientes com afloramentos rochosos e de elevadas altitudes (Mimosa claussenii, Tibouchina papyrus, Schwartzia adamantium e Wunderlichia cruelsiana) e a elevada dissimilaridade entre os sítios sugerem a altitude como principal responsável pela dissimilaridade florística, seguida pela influência do tipo de substrato. With the incorporation of new behavioral habits for the most demanding customers, respect for the environment, the industrialized countries and in industrialization have adopted quality standards for air and water, and emissions standards for industrial liquid effluents and gaseous and licensing systems of polluting activities, in line with current environmental legislation. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the environmental impacts generated by thermal factory Borborema Energy S/A, located between the municipalities of Campina Grande -PB and Queimadas -PB, describing the social and environmental impacts local, arising from the operation of the thermal factory and also proposing mitigation measures in order to mitigate the negative impacts. The observation in loco was used for data collection, using digital images, characterization and qualitative diagnosis of the impacts from the use of the identification matrix of potential impacts in thermals. Thus, it qualified that the Thermoelectric has negative nature on the impacts and medium significance (significant) on the item noise pollution and, as very significant on the items emissions of SO 2 , CO 2 , NOx, CO and hydrocarbons. As for the interference with flora and fauna, it was found that it exerts great magnitude and high importance (very important). Although there is an Environmental Impact Study (EIS) and Environmental Impact Report (EIR) presented and approved, this EIS and EIR disregarded some important items and does not reflect the reality in the study area and its surroundings.

RESUMOO objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar qualitativamente os impactos ambientais provenientes do Pólo Moveleiro de Ubá. A identificação e descrição das atividades impactantes relacionadas ao referido pólo foram feitas com base em consulta a referências bibliográficas e no acompanhamento das atividades realizadas nas fábricas de móveis e de suas interferências nos meios físico, biótico e antrópico. O método de avaliação utilizado foi a Matriz de Interação, contendo as atividades impactantes em suas linhas e os fatores ambientais relevantes em suas colunas. Identificaram-se 28 atividades impactantes, divididas em quatro fases: pré-fabricação de móveis, fabricação de móveis, expedição e comercialização de móveis, e limpeza e conservação da fábrica. O meio antrópico foi o mais impactado, apresentando 79 relações de impacto, o que correspondeu a 49,07% do total. A principal conclusão é a de que tal método se mostrou eficiente para avaliação de impactos ambientais do empreendimento em questão, o que permite a este estudo ser um referencial no processo de licenciamento da indústria de móveis em Minas Gerais.Palavras-chave: impacto ambiental, indústria moveleira e pólo moveleiro de Ubá. ABSTRACTThe objective of this research was to qualitatively evaluate the environmental impacts resulting from the Center. Identification and description of impacting activities were gotten from a literature review and from directly observing furniture factory activities in Ubá and their interactions with physical, biotic and human environs. The evaluation method was based on construction of an interaction matrix consisting of impacting activities for line items and relative environmental factors for column headings. Twenty-eight impacting activities were listed and divided into four phases: furniture preassembly, furniture assembly, shipping and commercialization of furniture, and factory cleaning and maintenance. The human environment was found to be the most impacted ambience, presenting 79 impact relationships (49.1% of total). The principal conclusion is that the method proved efficient for evaluating impacts for the industrial activity in question. This study thereby sets a referential procedure for licensing the furniture
