Show more

“…However, the monomolecular model has been the predominant model for epidemics of the disease caused by begomoviruses in tomatoes (e.g. Polston et al ., ; Della Vecchia et al ., ; Barbosa et al ., ). The golden mosaic and yellowing progress curves in the study here presented similar shapes and were approximately parallel, although the curve for yellowing disease lagged slightly behind the curve for golden mosaic.…”

“…The same finding holds true for monopartite begomoviruses in tomato crops, such as Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (Schuster et al ., ) and begomoviruses associated with tomato leaf curl disease in India (Holt et al ., ). In the two studies performed in Brazil, the disease progression of Tomato yellow vein streak virus followed a clear linear curve (Della Vecchia et al ., ), whereas the monomolecular model was the best‐fit model for ToSRV (Barbosa et al ., ).…”

“…In Sumaré, São Paulo state, an important region for the fresh market tomato production, ToSRV has displaced Tomato yellow vein streak virus (ToYVSV), which was the most prevalent begomovirus species a few years ago (Della Vecchia et al. ). The present study confirms the prevalence of ToSRV in the region of Sumaré.…”
