“…The present study attempted to determine the effect of hydrophilic dogwood extracts on the irritant potential of body wash gels. Multiple studies have shown that extracts and plant substances derived from Cornus mas contain significant amount of phenolic compounds, vitamin C, iridoids, flavonoids and, in particular, anthocyanins [ 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 , 30 , 31 , 32 , 33 , 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 , 38 , 39 ] which are largely attributable to their health promoting properties. The bioactive compounds from the family of phenolic acids such as elagic acid, p -cumaroylhhexoside and chlorogenic acid and compunds from the family of flavonols—quercitin-3- O -glucuronide, kaempferol-3- O -galactoside, identified in high amounts can also influence the inhibition of certain skin enzymes (elastases, collagenases and hyaluronidases) which are responsible for the degradation of structural proteins.…”
