Influência da secagem sobre o rendimento e composição química dos compostos voláteis das raízes de Piper piscatorum Trel. & Yunck. (Piperaceae)

Abstract: C respectively of Piper piscatorum, employing the technique of hydrodistillation. The volatile were chemically characterized by GC-MS and GC-FID. The main volatile compounds were selin-11-en-4-a-ol (57,63 ± 3,07%; 53,95 ± 1,56% and 56,20 ± 0,43%) and benzyl benzoate (15,40 ± 0,36%; 16,32 ± 0,85% and 15,04 ± 0,24%).The drying of the raw material reduced yield of volatile compounds, changing their chemical compositions. Keywords: Piperaceae; volatile compounds; Piper piscatorum. “…According to Venskutonis (1997), depending on the drying method, the biological structure of the oil gland trichomes of some Lamiaceae species can be strongly affected. One way to consider the yield on dry weight basis without the risk of losing EO is to extract the oil from fresh material and to determine the moisture content, as already described in the literature (Pimentel et al, 2012). The EO yields obtained from H. ringens showed a dependence on seasonality, which has also been described in previous studies for other species of Lamiaceae (Gazim et al, 2010).…”

“…Therefore, the analysis of the temperature effect was performed in isolation. The drying temperature influenced the essential oil yield, with a decrease between 35 and 55 °C, which corroborates the results obtained by Pimentel et al (2012), who reported a decrease in Piper piscatorum essential oils when the drying temperature was increased from 30 to 40 °C. Barbosa et al (2006) subjected Lippia alba to air temperatures that varied from room temperature (25 °C) to 80 °C, and they observed a decrease in the essential oil content from 12 to 17% in comparison with that obtained for the fresh plant.…”

“…Estudos da literatura indicam, no entanto, que, mesmo que os OE estejam armazenados em células internas, a análise de métodos alternativos de secagem deve ser realizada (COSTA et al, 2005;PIMENTEL et al, 2012;RAHIMMALEK;GOLI, 2013).
