Determinação de bifenilos policlorados em milho através de extração em fase sólida seguida de cromatografia a gás acoplada à espectrometria de massas

Abstract: 0.99). Recoveries ranged between 74.1 and 110.6% with relative standard deviation lower than 20% for all compounds. The limits of quantitation for the method were between 0.025 and 0.1 ng g-1. Of the 51 samples analyzed, PCB 180 showed the highest frequency, being detected in more than 39%, followed by PCB 138, detected in more than 33% of samples.]]>

“…Nevertheless, PCBs are still scattered in the environment due to leakage of old capacitors and transformers (ATSDR, 1990). In Brazil, the prohibition dates back to 1981, but their use is still allowed in old electro-electronic equipment until these are replaced with PCB-free products (SCHWANZ et al, 2012).…”

“…Therefore, since PCBs are still present in the environment (BÁNYIOVÁ et al, 2017), living organisms, in general, are exposed to these compounds both directly, through contamination of air, sediments, and water, and indirectly (SCHWANZ et al, 2012). Diet has been widely recognized as the main indirect source of ingestion of toxic products such as PCBs.…”

“…Maize is one of the most widely grown cereals on the planet, being the second most widely cultivated crop in Brazil (SCHWANZ et al, 2012). According to CONAB (2015) ("Brazilian Supply Company"), in Brazil maize production was 54.5 million tons in 2015, with significant amounts being produced by agriculturists in the central-south region of the country.…”
