Green chemistry in Brazil

“…The 4 th International IUPAC Conference on Green Chemistry (ICGC-4) took place in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, from 25 to 29 August 2012. ICGC-4 happened under the auspices of IUPAC and the Brazilian Chemical Society (SBQ) [12], with the theme "Exchanging experiences towards a sustainable society taking care of natural resources in their socio-economic development", expressing the main aim to transform the conference into a possibility to experience the scientific and the environmental dimensions towards a greener and ethical life all over the world. ICGC-4, with around 600 participants from up to 40 countries of all continents, brought together the ICGC series history, all the areas of chemistry and their related fields, as well as its sectors as academia, industry, government, and chemistry societies worldwide.…”

“…Deve-se ressaltar que a história de Marie Curie foi um dos temas mais discutidos no AIQ, e que também serviu para trazer para a pauta de discussão, em diversos eventos, a questão da presença feminina na Ciência, especialmente na área de Química. 2 Então se tudo isso foi muito bom, essa iniciativa tem que ser mantida. É preciso continuar o trabalho de esclarecimento da sociedade quanto à importância da Química para o progresso social do país.…”
