Abstract: FRUIT. Effects of two ethylene inhibitors, 1-methylcylopropene (1-MCP) and aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG), on production of volatile compounds and mangiferin (a bioactive xanthone) in 'Tommy Atkins' mango fruit were investigated. Volatile composition and mangiferin content, in treated and untreated fruits at three maturity, stages were determined by SPME-GC-MS and HPLC, respectively. These chromatographical analysis revealed that the volatile profiles and mangiferin concentrations were not significantly differe… Show more

“…2 Some studies have been carried out to determine the VOCs profile of different mango cultivars and led to the identification of more than 300 compounds including esters, aldehydes, ketones, aliphatic alcohols, γ and δ-lactones, and mono-and sesquiterpenes. 7 It has also been assessed that variety, [7][8][9] ripening stage, 10,11 geographic origin, 12 fruit part, 13,14 treatment after harvesting, 15 and fruit processing 16 affect the volatile compound profile of fresh mangoes. Despite the contribution of the abovementioned studies, the VOCs profile of many mango varieties has not been completely assessed yet.…”
