Quantitative determination of acetaminophen, phenylephrine and carbinoxamine in tablets by high-performance liquid chromatography

Abstract: An alternative methodology for analysis of acetaminophen (Ace), phenylephrine (Phe) and carbinoxamine (Car) in tablets by ion-pair reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography was validated. The pharmaceutical preparations were analyzed by using a C18 column (5 μm, 300 mm, 3.9 mm) and mobile phase consisting of 60% methanol and 40% potassium monobasic phosphate aqueous solution (62.46 mmol L-1) added with 1 mL phosphoric acid, 0.50 mL triethylamine and 0.25 g sodium lauryl sulfate. Isocratic anal… Show more

“…Most of the above mentioned methods were used for the determination of paracetamol combinations like paracetamolascorbic acid, 8,14 paracetamol-phenylephrine hydrochloride 5,10,11,13,20,21 and paracetamol-caffeine. 2,4,9,12,16,17,22 The aim of this study was to develop and validate a rapid HPLC method for the determination of ascorbic acid, phenylephrine, paracetamol and caffeine using a monolithic column.…”

“…Herein we reviewed only the reported HPLC methods for the analysis of the cited drugs in other mixtures. Ion pair chromatography was adopted using C 8 [8], C 18 [9], and cyano [10] columns. Micellar chromatography using either cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as cationic surfactant on C 8 column [11] or sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as anionic surfactant on C 18 column [12] were reported.…”
