The phytochemical investigation of Xylopia langsdorffiana led to the isolation of corytenchine, xylopinine, discretamine, xylopine, ent-atisan-16α-hydroxy-18-oic acid, 13 2 (S) hydroxy-17 3 -ethoxyphaephorbide and quercetin-3-α-rhamnoside. Their structures were assigned based on spectroscopic analyses, including two-dimensional NMR techniques. Antioxidant activities of discretamine were measured using the 1,2-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay.

Turnera subulata Sm., known as "Chanana" or "flor-do-Guarujá" in Brazilian folklore, is a plant species belonging to the subfamily Turneroideae of family Passifloraceae, which is used for various medicinal purposes in Brazil. The phytochemical study conducted here led to the isolation and identification of ten compounds present in T. subulata: two mixtures of steroids, sitosterol and stigmasterol (nonglycosylated and glycosylated); a mixture of flavonoids, 5,7,4′-trihidroxiflavona-8-C-α-glucopyranoside and 5,7,3′,4′-tetrahidroxiflavona-8-C-α-glucopyranosidel; and four phaeophytins, phaeophytin purpurin-18-phytyl ester, a rare natural product, phaeophytin a, 13 2 -hydroxy-(13 2 -S)-phaeophytin a, and phaeophytin b. Phaeophytin b exhibited electrochemical activity similar to that of phthalocyanines.

The aim of this study was to assess the antioxidant capacity and to evaluate effect of P. glandulosus on the viability of protoscoleces of Echinococcus spp. as well as determine the possible substance in charge for this action. Echinococcus ortleppi protoscoleces were exposed front of the crude extract and butanol fraction and gallic acid at different times.Phytochemical study revealed the presence of triterpenoids, steroids, coumarins, catechins, phenols, anthocyanins, anthocyanidins and cardioactiveheterosides. The highest polyphenol and flavonoids content was found in the ethyl acetate(151.34±1.71mg/g) and dichlorometane (123.30±1.46mg/g), respectively. For assays with DPPH the ethyl acetate fraction was highlighted (IC5095.48±0.35 µg/mL) and the dichlorometane fraction significantly reduced lipid peroxidation (IC50 135.75±2.39 µg/mL) and also the oxidation of DCFH (15.6 µg/mL). The crude extract, butanol fraction and gallic acid showed scolicidal action of 100% at 15, 10 and 15 minutes, respectively.
