Show more

“…Natural infections of passion flower with begomoviruses have previously been reported in Puerto Rico (Brown et al., 1993), Brazil (Ferreira et al., 2010; Fontenele et al., 2018; Mituti et al., 2019; Novaes et al., 2003; Rodrigues et al., 2019; Silva et al., 2006; Spadotti et al., 2019), Taiwan (Cheng et al., 2014), South Korea (Kil et al., 2016), Colombia (Vaca‐Vaca et al., 2017) and China (Huang et al., 2021; Tang et al., 2020). In most cases, only a few plants were infected, without apparent economic importance.…”

“…Other begomoviruses reported infecting passion flower in Brazil are sida mottle virus (SiMoV) and sida micrantha mosaic virus (SimMV) in the states of Pará, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro (Alves et al., 2011); sida mottle Alagoas virus (SiMAV) in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (Mituti et al., 2019); and melochia yellow mosaic virus (MelYMV) in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (Spadotti et al., 2019). An unidentified begomovirus has been reported in passion fruit plants in the state of Alagoas (Silva et al., 2006). However, there is no information on the incidence and damage caused by these begomoviruses.…”

“…Later co-infection of both DNA and RNA viruses in passion fruit was recorded from Brazil (Novaes et al 2003). Recently, a passion fruit-infecting novel begomovirus virus was also recorded from Alagoas State (Silva et al 2006), Colombia (Vaca-Vaca et al 2017) and Brazil (Ferreira et al 2010;Fontenele et al 2018).…”
