Show more

“…The greater susceptibility of Urochloa ruziziensis was also verified by Brighenti et al (2011). According to these authors, knowledge of differential susceptibility among species of the genus Urochloa to glyphosate herbicide enables its economy.…”

“…Thus, it becomes important to select species of Urochloa in terms of the productive capacity and which are adapted to the adopted management. In this context, Urochloa ruziziensis presents advantages because it is easily controlled by herbicides adopted in desiccation (Brighenti et al, 2011). However, most studies assess the formation of vegetation cover by Urochloa brizantha and Urochloa decumbens.…”

“…One of the most widely used strategies has been the use of reduced herbicide doses, with the aim of regulating the forage growth without damaging the weed management and ensure a satisfactory maize yield (Dan et al, 2011). In this sense, intercropping success is associated with Brachiaria susceptibility to the herbicide (Brighenti et al, 2011) and directly related to the dose, the species and the vegetative stage of the forage at the time of application.…”

“…Have shown great adaptability for local soils and climate, but when it is left uncontrolled, they invade natural ecosystems and become a threat to native species to the Carajás National Forest. One of the methods used to control Urochloa species is the application of glyphosate-based herbicide formulations, which represent a very efficient, fast and low cost strategy (Brighenti et al, 2011;Ruas et al, 2011). The herbicide glyphosate is the most widely used broad-spectrum, non-selective and post emergence pesticide (Schuster & Gratzfeld-Husgen, 1992).…”
