Show more

“…Colossoma macropomum (tambaqui) is a native Serrasalmidae of Amazon with a omnivorous natural diet (Soares et al, 2008), a characteristic that enables intensive rearing, since this species has substantial acceptance to meal (Chagas et al, 2005;Santos et al, 2013). Due to these features In Amazon, the tambaqui has been reared in ponds (Tavares-Dias et al, 2006;Delgado et al, 2011;Godoi et al, 2012) and net-cage (Morais et al, 2009;Santos et al;.…”

“…Similarly, increase in erythrocyte concentration is related to a greater oxygen demand in stress conditions (BRAUN et al, 2010), whereas variation in total plasma protein is an indicator of osmotic imbalance (WEDEMEYER, 1996). The values for glucose, hematocrit, and plasma proteins obtained for tambatinga were similar to those for tambaqui (BRANDÃO et al, 2004;CHAGAS et al, 2005;2007).…”

“…The productive performance of fish farming depends on the species, sex, stage of development and feeding management (Ng et al, 2000;Mihelakakis et al, 2002;Zuanon et al, 2004;Chagas et al, 2005). Moreover, management involves a number of meals, time of feed offer and feeding rate.…”
