VI. As espécies descritas Bezzi, 1909 (espécie-tipo) da Bolívia, Mapiri. Cinco espécies neotropicais são redescritas e uma nova sinonímia é proposta: Porphyrochroa argyrina (Bezzi, 1909), lectótipo (aqui designado); P. galactodes (Bezzi, 1909); P. micrargyra (Bezzi, 1909), lectótipo (aqui designado), sinônimo sênior de P. monstrosa (Bezzi, 1909) syn. nov.; P. penicillata (Bezzi, 1909) e P. perpulchra (Bezzi, 1909), lectótipo … Show more

“…The origins of these species are not yet clarified, but some of them presumably have close phylogenetic relationships with the Gondowanan groups of “ Empis ”, most of which certainly have no close relationship to Empis from the Holarctic Region. Chilerhamphomyia Rafael and Bolrhamphomyia Rafael, described from the Neotropical Region mainly based on male genitalia (Rafael 2010) are at best subgenera within the present classification of Rhamphomyia . Rafael's (2010) comparisons of the genera within the whole range of morphological divergence of Rhamphomyia were insufficiently complete to establish them as genera.…”

A partir do trabalho anterior (Rafael 2010) a classificação adotada segue Sinclair & Cumming (2006).…”
