Taxonomia, análise cladística e descrição de uma espécie nova de Palpibracus Rondani (Diptera, Muscidae)

Abstract: ABSTRACT. Taxonomy, cladistics analysis and description of a new species of Palpibracus Rondani (Diptera, Muscidae). Palpibracus Rondani is a Muscidae genus with 16 species, including P. darwini sp. nov. described from male specimens from Concepción, Chile. A cladistic analysis was performed based on 31 adult morphological characters and using 12 species as outgroup. This analysis shows Palpibracus as a monophyletic genus whose sister-group is Brachygasterina Malloch. The relationship among Palpibracus species… Show more

“…This analysis was performed only with species having known phylogenetic relationships: Apsil (de Carvalho & Couri, 2002), Bithoracochaeta (Couri & Motta, 2000), Brachygasterina (de Carvalho & Pont, 2006), Cyrtoneurina and Cyrtoneuropsis (Pamplona, 1999), Palpibracus (Soares & de Carvalho, 2005b), Polietina (Nihei & de Carvalho, 2005), Philornis (Couri et al, 2007), Pseudoptilolepis (Schuehli & de Carvalho, 2005), Reynoldsia (de Carvalho & Couri, 2002) and Souzalopesmyia (de Carvalho, 1999). For each species, individual tracks were drawn in ArcViewGIS with the extension Trazos2004 Ò (Rojas-Parra, 2007).…”

“…In the cladistic analysis of the species of Palpibracus performed by Soares & Carvalho (2005) A cladistic analysis was performed with B. maculata included in the same data matrix used by Soares & Carvalho (2005) for Palpibracus species, where seven genera were used as outgroups. The new species was not positioned in the Brachygasterina clade, but rather among an array of the outgroups species, suggesting that the concept of Brachygasterina should be enlarged to include Palpibracus, Psilochaeta and Dalcyella as a monophyletic unit.…”

“…The monophyly of Brachygasterina is not well established since Couri et al (2007) placed B. maculata outside of Brachygasterina clade, using the data matrix of Soares & Carvalho (2005 General color. General body coloration metallic blue to bluish-purple, metallic green in alcohol.…”
