Objectives: To know the meanings attributed by women regarding the repercussions of the experience of domestic violence.Method: Qualitative study, based on the Grounded Theory method. Data were collected in two sticks of domestic and family violence against the Brazilian Northeast woman. An interview was conducted with 37 participants, who composed two sample groups. Results: The study demonstrates that the physical and mental health of women and their children are compromised, expressed through visible marks such as bruises and cuts, in addition to low self-esteem, sadness, fear and depression. There are also repercussions for the social relations of women as a consequence of social isolation and non-qualification for the labor market, and of children, related to the decrease in school performance, introspection and vulnerability to drug use. Conclusion:It is necessary to sensitize health professionals to the recognition of cases and promote educational actions, thus transcending the invisibility barrier of domestic violence.Keywords: Violence against Women; Family Conflict; Public Health. resumoObjetivo: Conhecer os significados atribuídos por mulheres acerca das repercussões da vivência de violência conjugal.Método: Estudo qualitativo, apoiado no método da Grounded Theory. Os dados foram coletados em duas varas de violência doméstica e familiar contra a mulher do nordeste brasileiro. Realizou-se entrevista com 37 participantes, que compuseram dois grupos amostrais. Resultado: O estudo aponta comprometimento para a saúde física e mental das mulheres e seus filhos, expressa por marcas visíveis, como hematomas e cortes, além de baixa autoestima, tristeza, medo e depressão. Revelam-se ainda repercussões para as relações sociais das mulheres, por consequência do isolamento social e da não-qualificação para o mercado de trabalho, e das crianças, relacionadas à diminuição no rendimento escolar, introspecção e vulnerabilidade para o uso de drogas. Conclusão: Faz-se necessário sensibilizar profissionais de saúde para o reconhecimento dos casos e promover ações de educação, transcendendo, assim, a barreira da invisibilidade da violência conjugal. Method: qualitative research, developed through unstructured interviews with nine women in a Reference Center for Women, in the semiarid region of the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. The interpretation of the results was based on the approach of Comprehensive Sociology and Daily Life in order to identify the underground centrality submerged in the daily life of the participants and which could emerge through their reactions from the experience of sexual abuse.Results: after interpretation, the results were grouped into the categories: Family life after the revelation of sexual abuse; The daily life of girls experiencing sexual abuse; and Repercussions of sexual abuse in the adult life of sexually abused women in childhood. The repercussions of sexual abuse were described as difficulties in family life, pregnancy, hypersexual behavior, prostitution, gender and sex contradiction, difficulties to have orgasm, drug use, low self-esteem, depression, self-destructive behavior, suicidal ideation and homicide.Conclusion: exposure to sexual abuse in the family context has impaired the physical and emotional health of girls and adolescents, as well as family coexistence, pointing to the need to adopt sensitivity and solidarity in the care of women with complaints that may be associated with experiences of sexual abuse.DESCRIPTORS: Adult survivors of child abuse; Sexual child abuse, sexual; Violence against women; Child; Family relationships; Activities od daily living. A interpretação dos resultados foi fundamentada na abordagem da Sociologia Compreensiva e do Cotidiano, a fim de identificar a centralidade subterrânea submersa na vida cotidiana das participantes e que pudesse emergir por meio de suas reações a partir do vivido do abuso sexual.Resultados: após a interpretação, os resultados foram agrupados nas categorias: Convivência familiar após a revelação do abuso sexual; A vida cotidiana de meninas em vivência de abuso sexual; e Repercussões do abuso sexual na vida adulta de mulheres abusadas sexualmente na infância. The experience of helplessness or abandonment during pregnancy affects the emotional state of women, hindering their disposition in taking care of themselves and their baby. The aim of this study was to understand the emotional experience arising from intra-family violence experienced by institutionally sheltered adolescent mothers and pregnant adolescents. This study is exploratory, descriptive, clinical and qualitive. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a psychologist from the institution and with six adolescents in the institution: one pregnant girl and five mothers. The data showed that helplessness was experienced by participants both during their pregnancy and throughout their lives. The institution was found to be the only place of protection, care and support for adolescents in the puerperal pregnancy period. The adolescents' mothers had also experienced abandonment by either their family members or their partners and the adolescents themselves repeated this abandonment with their own children. This study concludes that violence has consequences for the lives of adolescents, causing immense suffering and a transgenerational repetition of violence, demanding greater prevention and intervention.
