Ethnozoology in Brazil: analysis of the methodological risks in published studies

There has been a growth in the field of Ethnozoology throughout the years, especially in Brazil, where a considerable number of scientific articles pertaining to this subject has been published in recent decades. With this increase in publications comes the opportunity to assess the quality of these publications, as there are no known studies assessing the methodological risks in this area. Based on this observation, our objectives were to compile the papers published on the subject of ethnozoology and to answer the following questions: 1) Do the Brazilian ethnozoological studies use sound sampling methods?; 2) Is the sampling quality influenced by characteristics of the studies/publications? The studies found in databases and using web search engines were compiled to answer these questions. The studies were assessed based on their nature, sampling methods, use of hypotheses and tests, journal's impact factor, and animal group studied. The majority of the studies analyzed exhibited problems associated with the samples, as 144 (66.98%) studies were classified as having a high risk of bias. With regard to the characteristics analyzed, we determined that a quantitative nature and the use of tests are essential components of good sampling. Most studies classified as moderate and low risk either did not provide these data or provided data that were not clear; therefore, these studies were classified as being of a quali-quantitative nature. Studies performed with vertebrate groups were of high risk. Most of the papers analyzed here focused on fish, insects, and/or mollusks, thus highlighting the difficulties associated with conducting interviews regarding tetrapod vertebrates. Such difficulties are largely related to the extremely strict Brazilian laws, justified by the decline and extinction of some species, related to the use of wild tetrapod vertebrates.Keywords: scientometry, Ethnobiology, Ethnoecology, methodological biases. Com isto abriu-se a oportunidade para avaliar a qualidade das publicações, já que não existem pesquisas que avaliem os riscos metodológicos na área. Partindo desta premissa objetivamos compilar os artigos publicados na área e responder as seguintes questões: os trabalhos etnozoológicos brasileiros possuem boa qualidade amostral? A qualidade amostral é influenciada por características dos estudos/publicações? Para responder tais perguntas foi realizado levantamento das publicações em bases de dados e sites de busca. As características avaliadas foram relacionadas à natureza, amostragem, uso de hipóteses e testes, fator de impacto do periódico e grupo animalBraz.

| This study explores the experience of female leadership and the balancing of this role with motherhood. Data collection took place among four women leaders with children. We used the method of life histories, conducting two interviews with each participant. The data was subject to thematic content analysis, using NVivo. Results show that participants assume leadership as a position that entails difficulties, with the conciliation between the personal and professional sphere being one of these difficulties, as well as the exercise of the authority associated with their role as leader. They also refer to the existence of discrimination, even if they do not assume they experienced it in the organization where they currently work. These leaders' expectations are to improve their working conditions, skills development, and the willingness to remain in their current position or organization. Women have a clear overload on household chores and childcare, and it is difficult to reconcile these roles.Key words: female leadership, motherhood, life stories. RESUMO | Este estudo explora a vivência da liderança feminina e a conciliação deste papel com a maternidade. A recolha de dados aconteceu junto de quatro mulheres líderes e com filhos. Recorreuse ao método de histórias de vida, realizando-se duas entrevistas com cada participante. Os dados foram sujeitos à análise de conteúdo temática, com recurso ao NVivo11. Os resultados apontam que a liderança é assumida pelas participantes como um papel que acarreta dificuldades, sendo a conciliação entre a esfera pessoal e profissional uma dessas dificuldades, assim como o exercício da autoridade associado ao seu papel de líder. Referem ainda a existência de descriminação, ainda que não assumam que a experienciam na sua organização de trabalho. As expetativas destas líderes passam pela melhoria de condições de trabalho, desenvolvimento de competências, vontade de permanecer no cargo ou organização atual e empreender. As mulheres têm uma evidente sobrecarga a nível das tarefas domésticas e no cuidar dos filhos, sendo difícil conciliar estes papéis. Este trabalho se destacou no VI Congresso Ibero-Americano em Investigação Qualitativa (CIAIQ2017). O Congresso Ibero-Americano em Investigação Qualitativa (CIAIQ) é um evento anual que reúne representantes da comunidade científica internacional a trabalhar nesta área de investigação.

Doi: alcance.v24n3.p350-362RESUMO O contexto organizacional vem sendo considerado um dos espaços mais importantes na construção identitária, no qual cada dia mais pessoas encontram identificação e referencial. Neste sentido, o objetivo deste artigo é trazer uma reflexão sobre os processos de identificação e idealização de trabalhadores com as suas organizações. Assim, por meio da abordagem de pesquisa qualitativa e da estratégia de pesquisa história de vida, realizou-se uma reflexão sobre organizações, indivíduos e suas trajetórias. A história é a de Nice, trabalhadora, que teve sua história de vida entrelaçada a de uma organização, de tal forma que os destinos desta organização tocaram a sua vida pessoal. Nice, a protagonista desta história, que teve seu nome escolhido em alusão à deusa grega, que simbolizava a vitória e a força, transitou por cenários de identificação e idealização, permeados por um processo de corrupção que perpassou o seu drama. A análise de sua história revelou o quanto as organizações como espaços de lutas identitárias e jogos de poder podem representar um rompimento na história de seus trabalhadores, sendo necessário um recomeço não sem prejuízos a sua identidade, o que convida a uma reflexão crítica sobre estes acontecimentos e seus atores.Palavras-chave: Processos de identificação. ABSTRACTThe organizational context has been considered one of the most important spaces in the construction of identity, where every day, more people find identification and a referential framework. The objective of this article is to bring a reflection on the processes of identification and idealization of workers with their organizations. Thus, through an approach involving qualitative research and the strategy of life story research, a reflection is offered on organizations, individuals, and their histories. The story is that of Nice, a hardworking woman whose life story is intertwined with that of an organization, in such a way that the destinies of the organization touched her personal life.
