“…15,32 Palm trees are considered to be a risk factor for Chagas disease in neotropical landscapes. 32,[39][40][41][42] However, less is understood regarding how vector abundance in palms varies relative to land use/anthropogenic disturbance surrounding their microhabitats. We present evidence that anthropogenic activity, resulting in the creation of forest remnants, regenerating forests, cattle pasture, and domiciliary areas, is associated with increased presence and abundance of R. pallescens in A. butyracea palms.…”

“…Barretto (1979) showed that A. aculeata was infested by different triatomines, but especially by R. neglectus in the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. In Argentina, this species seems to also be important as Triatoma sordida Stål, 1859 ecotope (Bar & Wisnivesky-Colli 2001). Microclimatic variation in the leaf axil of this palm species was wide (Lorenzo et al 2003).…”

“…Stål are trees, especially palms, and these insects are frequently observed close to peridomestic perches. T. sordida is also common in palm trees in Argentina (Bar & Colli 2001).…”
