Notas de Ixodologia: IV - considerações sôbre a nomeclatura de algumas espécies do gênero Amblyomma do Brasil e países limítrofes (Acari: Ixodidae)

Abstract: An attempt is made to clear the nomenclature of some netropical species of the genus Amblyomma. Amblyomma myrmecophagium Schulze, 1933 and Amblyomma brasiliense guyanense Floch et Abonnenc, 1933, are synonyms of Amblyoma scalpturatum Neumann, 1906. Amblyomma superbrasiliense Schulze, 1941, is cospecific with Amblyomma incisum Neumann, 1906. Amblyomma ypsilophorum Schulze, 1941, is a synonym of Amblyomma cooperi Nuttal et Warburton, 1907

“…For the identification of mites, 252 specimens were rinsed in Nesbitt solution and mounted in Berlese medium (Walter and Krantz, 2009a). The identification was carried out following the keys proposed by Fonseca (1936Fonseca ( , 1957 and Furman (1972) and using a stereomicroscope (Motic ®).…”

“…Some small animal species are distributed throughout dissimilar environmental zones, such as the biogeographic provinces, Mediterranean, Temperate Forest and Patagonia. One of these species is Oligoryzomys longicaudatus (Long-tailed pygmy rice rat), which is parasitized by mites of the genus Mysolaelaps (Fonseca, 1936). In this context, the present study describes the parasitic infestation rates of Mysolaelaps microspinosus on O. longicaudatus and evaluates its relationship with biotic factors (sex and host body mass) and abiotic factors (biogeographical province and season).…”

“…as The mites were slide-mounted using Hoyer's medium following the protocols described by Walter and Krantz (2009). For the identification of genera, we used Radovsky (2010), Brennan andGoff (1977), andFonseca (1936). We compared our material for species level with the original descriptions of each species within the genus identified.…”
