Purpose. The aim of this study was to analyze the interrelationships among motor coordination, body fat percentage, and physical activity levels in adolescent girls. Methods. Sixty-eight girls aged 12-14 years participated in the study. Skinfold thickness was measured and the Körperkoordinationstest für Kinder test was administered. Participants completed a self-reporting questionnaire on physical activity. Bivariate and partial correlations were used to analyze the interrelationships among the selected variables. Results. There were no significant (p > 0.05) correlations between any motor coordination scores and physical activity levels with and without controlling for body fat percentage. All motor coordination scores were significantly (p < 0.05) associated with body fat with and without controlling for physical activity levels. Conclusions. The relationships between motor coordination scores and physical activity levels, as well as between motor coordination scores and body fat percentage, were not influenced by body fat and physical activity levels, respectively. However, the overall low physical activity level in this sample may have biased these results. Additional research involving girls with higher physical activity levels should be pursued.

Objective:To analyze the associations between sex and age with behaviour related to physical activity practice and sedentary behaviour in children and adolescents.Methods:A cross-sectional study with 480 (236 boys) subjects enrolled in a public school in the city of Londrina, in the south of Brazil, aged 8–17 years. Measures of physical activity, sports practice and screen times were obtained using the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Older Children. The Mann–Whitney U test was used to compare variables between boys and girls. The Chi squared test was used for categorical analysis and Poisson regression was used to identify prevalence.Results:Girls (69.6%; PR=1.05 [0.99–1.12]) spent more time with sedentary behaviour than boys (62.2%). Boys (80%; PR=0.95 [0.92–0.98]) were more physically active than girls (91%). Older students aged 13–17 showed a higher prevalence of physical inactivity (91.4%; PR=1.06 [1.02–1.10]) and time spent with sedentary behaviour of ≥2h/day (71.8%; PR=0.91 [0.85–0.97]) when compared to younger peers aged 8–12 (78.7 and 58.5%, respectively).Conclusions:The prevalence of physical inactivity was higher in girls. Older students spent more screen time in comparison to younger students.

RESUMOIntrodução: O Physical Activity Questionnaire for Children (PAQ-C) e o Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents (PAQ-A) foram originalmente propostos para oferecer medidas autorrelatadas da prática de atividade física de jovens. Objetivos: Traduzir para o idioma português, realizar adaptação transcultural e analisar reprodutibilidade e validade concorrente do PAQ-C e do PAQ-A em amostra de jovens brasileiros. Métodos: Versões originais foram traduzidas de acordo com recomendações internacionais. Os questionários traduzidos foram administrados em amostra de 528 jovens (285 moças e 243 rapazes) com idades entre oito e 18 anos. Reprodutibilidade foi obtida por intermédio de réplicas de aplicação dos questioná-rios, com intervalo de uma semana, envolvendo coeficiente de correlação intraclasse (CCI) e técnica de Bland-Altman. A consistência interna foi analisada mediante coeficiente alfa de Cronbach. Para análise da validade concorrente foram consideradas informações apresentadas pelo acelerômetro RT3 durante sete dias como critério de referência. Atividade física total (AFtotal) e atividade física de intensidades moderada a vigorosa (AFMV) derivadas do acelerômetro foram comparadas mediante coeficiente de correlação de Spearman com pontuações apresentadas pelos questionários. Resultados: Após discretas modificações apontadas no processo de tradução, um comitê de juízes considerou que as versões traduzidas do PAQ-C e do PAQ-A apresentaram equivalências semântica, idiomática, cultural e conceitual. Reprodutibilidade teste-reteste mostrou CCI entre 0,68 e 0,88. A técnica de Bland-Altman evidenciou elevada capacidade de concordância entre réplicas de aplicação dos questionários. A consistência interna mostrou α = 0,71 e α = 0,76, respectivamente. A pontuação dos questionários demostrou correlações moderadas com AFtotal (rho = 0,40; rho = 0,50) e AFMV (rho = 0,48; rho = 0,54) estimadas pelo acelerômetro. Conclusão: A tradução, adaptação transcultural, reprodutibilidade e validade concorrente do PAQ-C e do PAQ-A foram satisfatórias, o que viabiliza sua aplicação em futuros estudos no Brasil.Palavras-chave: questionários, tradução, adaptação, psicometria, Brasil.
