“…Evaluation of surgical risk score of Guaragna et al [5] Ferrari ADL, et al In this analysis, we observed a higher risk of TCP in POCS in patients undergoing mitral valve replacement (OR = 1.45, 95% CI 1.05 to 2.00, P = 0.02) and patients who received bioprosthetic (OR = 2.02, 95% CI 1.4 to 2.92, P <0.0001). The 198 patients who received bioprosthetic had higher average age (69.4 ± 13.1 years) compared to the population that did not use (52.3 ± 14.8 years).…”

“…On the other hand, Guaragna et al 23 , in 2010, created a local risk score for patients undergoing valve surgery, eliminating the use of international scores. Advanced age, surgical priority, female gender, ejection fraction < 45%, concomitant CABG, pulmonary hypertension, NYHA functional class III or IV, creatinine (1.5 to 2.49 and > 2.5 mg/dL or dialysis) were identified as risk predictors.…”
