Uso da tomografia de coerência ótica intracoronariana para caracterização precisa da aterosclerose

Abstract: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a novel imaging technology based on low-coherence interferometry that uses scattering of near-infrared light as a signal source to provide vascular cross-sectional imaging with definition far superior to any other available modality. With spatial resolution of up to 10 microm, OCT provides 20-fold higher resolution than intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), currently the most used modality for intra-coronary imaging. OCT has the capacity to provide invaluable insight into the v… Show more

“…Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a high‐resolution biomedical imaging modality that has become an established standard for clinical ophthalmic imaging and is rapidly developing commercially for clinical applications in cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, and dermatology . In cardiology, intravascular optical coherence tomography (IV‐OCT) is a promising imaging technique to monitor many cardiovascular interventions and visualize cardiovascular disease .…”

“…The ability to have accurate and catheter based intravascular imaging provides interventional physicians with invaluable insight into the procedural vascular anatomy [ 1 ]. Luminal angiography has long been the gold standard for visualizing the arterial lumen and is routinely used for arterial reconstruction.…”

“…"Learning without thought is labor lost; thought without learning is perilous" Confucius Optical coherence tomography (OCT) technology was initially applied as the modality in the field of cardiology to reveal the pathological features of coronary artery disease without specimen collection. 1 Afterward, the realization that it provides accurate and micronlevel anatomical measurement values deepened, 2 thereby developing OCT-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), which based PCI decisions on OCT.…”
