Nutrition for the pediatric surgical patient: approach in the peri-operative period

Abstract: Nutrition is essential for maintenance of physiologic homeostasis and growth. Hypermetabolic states lead to a depletion of body stores, with decreased immunocompetence and increased morbidity and mortality.
