Show more

“…Serological test. All plasma specimens were tested against the asexual blood stages of P. vivax (PRG strain, from Paragominas, Brazil) and P. falciparum (PSS1 strain, from Rondonia, Brazil) by the indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT) according to the method described by Ferreira and Sanches (25). Briefly, slides containing 20 parasitized red blood cells per microscopic field were prepared.…”

“…Indirect Fluorescent Antibody Test (IFAT) -IFAT was performed according to Ferreira and Sanchez (1988), using P. vivax infected erythrocytes as antigen and isothiocyanate conjugated antihuman IgG antibodies (Biolab Diagnóstica SA). Negative and positive controls were included in all assays, positive controls dilutions varying from 1:40 to 1:1280.…”

“…Sera archives of the recipient and of 48 blood donors were recovered and analyzed for the presence of malarial antibodies using an IgG IFAT with P. malariae antigen, an ELISA 8 with P. vivax recombinant antigen (rPvMSP1 19 ) and an ELISA using total extract of P. falciparum asexual forms. The P. malariae IFAT 17 was positive only in donor 045-0 (Fig. 1C).…”
