Abstract: ResumoDescreve-se a pesquisa em epidemiologia no Brasil na atualidade. Utiliza várias fontes secundárias de dados, com ênfase na versão 4.0 do Diretório dos Grupos de Pesquisa no Brasil (2000) do CNPq (Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico). O critério para o reconhecimento de grupo integrante da massa crítica em epidemiologia foi o desenvolvimento, pelo menos, de uma linha de pesquisa nessa subárea, conforme definido pelo líder do grupo.
