Hospitalization of older adults due to ambulatory care sensitive conditions

“…Discussão O presente estudo aponta, como principal achado, as reduções no número de ICSAP em idosos no Estado do Paraná, quando se compararam os anos de 2000 e 2012, confirmando estudo realizado no estado do Rio de Janeiro com idosos na mesma faixa etária, o qual apresentou uma redução proporcional de 16,8% em ICSAP (3) . “…As Doenças Cardiopulmonares são as condições sensíveis que mais internaram nos anos abordados, sendo esses diagnósticos os mais frequentes dentre as ICSAP e com maior representatividade no total de internações por causas gerais, resultado esse semelhante a inúmeros estudos recentes sobre ICSAP, tanto na população adulta quanto idosa, que mostram a Insuficiência Cardíaca, Doenças Pulmonares, Doenças Cerebrovasculares e Angina com as maiores proporções de internações no SUS (3,(9)(10)15) . A grande proporção de internações por Doenças Cardiopulmonares em idosos denota a importância desse conhecimento e maior atenção por parte dos profissionais de saúde, envolvidos diretamente na assistência à saúde, bem como no planejamento de políticas públicas, haja vista esses agravos, com exceção da angina, também causas importantes de mortalidade no Brasil (16) e acometem grande número de pessoas, representando elevados custos sociais e econômicos.…”
