A B S T R A C TAgribusiness daily increases the demand for machinery with better efficiency, seeking to reduce operating costs and improve the quality of the sowing process. The objective of present study was to evaluate the quality of the longitudinal seed distribution and the operating performance of a seeder-fertilizer according to displacement velocity and furrowing mechanism for fertilizer deposition. The assay was conducted in the experimental area of the Department of Agricultural Engineering of the Federal University of Ceará. The experimental design was randomized blocks, in a 2 x 3 factorial, with four replicates with two furrowing mechanisms for fertilizer deposition (double disc and shank) and three displacement velocities (4.7, 6.3 and 8.2 km h -1 ). The results demonstrate that for the quality of seed distribution, the best performance was obtained with the use of the shank at velocity of 6.3 km h -1 . The tractor-seeder set provided better operating performance using the disc, which promoted the lowest specific consumption at the velocity of 4.7 km h -1 .Desempenho de semeadora-adubadora em função da velocidade de deslocamento e do mecanismo sulcador de fertilizantes R E S U M O Diariamente, o agronegócio aumenta a exigência por maquinário com melhor eficiência buscando a redução dos custos operacionais e a melhoria da qualidade do processo de semeadura. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a qualidade da distribuição longitudinal de sementes e o desempenho operacional de uma semeadora-adubadora em função da velocidade de deslocamento e do mecanismo sulcador de fertilizantes. O trabalho foi realizado na área experimental do Departamento de Engenharia Agrícola da Universidade Federal do Ceará. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 2 x 3 com 4 repetições e dois mecanismos para depósito de fertilizantes (disco duplo desencontrado e haste sulcadora) além de três velocidades de deslocamento (4,7; 6,3 e 8,2 km h -1 ). Os resultados demonstram que para qualidade da distribuição de sementes o melhor desempenho foi com o uso da haste sulcadora na velocidade de 6,3 km h -1 . O conjunto trator-semeadora obteve melhor desempenho operacional com o uso do disco obtendo menor consumo específico na velocidade de 4,7 km h -1 .

RESUMO:O objetivo foi avaliar o desempenho operacional quanto ao requerimento de tração, consumo energético e eficiência de trabalho de associações entre eleme ntos de corte dos resíduos culturais e de rompedores do solo, em função da velocidade de deslocamento. Este trabalho foi realizado em propriedade agrícola situada no município de Santa Maria (RS), em solo classificado como Argissolo Vermelho e textura francoarenosa. O experimento foi composto por 24 combinações de tratamentos, em um esquema fatorial de 2x3x4. Estes foram obtidos pela interação dos fatores sulcadores (haste e disco), discos de corte (sem disco, liso e ondulado) e velocidades (1,11; 1,67; 2,22 e 2,78 m s -1 ). Os dados de desempenho do trator foram adquiridos com a utilização de instrumentação eletrônica. As associações entre sulcador e disco apresentaram melhor desempenho nas velocidades de 1,11 e 1,67 m s -1 por exigirem menor força de tração e consumo de combustível. Além disso, o uso de discos permitiu uma redução da ampliação da força de tração quando a velocidade passou de 1,11 para 2,78 m s -1 . A haste exigiu maior demanda de tração do que os discos desencontrados, e ambos, ao serem comb inados com os discos de corte, tiveram suas demandas aumentadas. Outrossim, a mobilização do solo não foi influenciada pela velocidade. OPERATING PERFORMANCE OF FURROWERS AND CUTTING DISKS ASSOCIATION FOR NO-TILLAGE SYSTEM ABSTRACT:The objective was to evaluate tractor operating performance regarding traction application, energy consumption and work ing efficiency in association of crop residue cutting implements and soil breakers as the travelling speed. Experiment was performed at a farm in Sa nta Maria (RS ), Brazil. Local soil was classified as Red Ultisol with sandy loam texture. The experiment consisted of 24 treatment combinations in a 2x3x4 factorial scheme. The combinations were composed by interactions furrowers (furrow opener fixed and rotary), cutting disks (without disk, plain disk, and undulating disk) and travelling speeds (1.11, 1.67, 2.22 and 2.78 m s -1 ). Tractor performance data were acquired through electronic instrumentation. Furrower and cutting disk association had improved performance at speeds of 1.11 and 1.67 m s -1 for requiring less traction and fuel consumption. Furthermore, disks reduced required traction at speed range of 1.11 to 2.78 m s -1 . On the other hand, furrow opener device demanded higher tractions than mismatched disks; and both of them combined with cutting disks had increased demand too. Likewise, soil mobilization soil was not influenced by speed.

The heavy traffic of machinery and implements in no-tillage areas leads to surface compaction, especially when the managed soil contains high levels of moisture. This problem is one of the main causes of increased power demand in seeding operations. The aim of this paper was to assess the performance of two furrow opener mechanisms for planting soybean in clay soil with different levels of compaction and assess their relationship with traction demand. A random blocks experimental design with subdivided plots was used. The plots had four levels of soil compaction (1.16, 1.20, 1.22, and 1.26 Mg m -3 ), and the subplots consisted of furrow openers (double-disc opener and shank-type opener) with four replications. Soybean sowing was carried out with a no-tillage seed with five lines. Seed deposition depth; cross-sectional area of mobilized soil; depth and width of the groove and the power demand measured by a load cell coupled between the tractor and the seeder were analyzed. The shank-type furrow opener increased the depth and width of the furrows, the planting depth and the disturbed area, and required greater power demand as the density of the soil increased. The contrary was observed with the double disc opener as this furrower presents low capability to reach d eeper layers in compacted soil, as a result of its design characteristics.
