Sexualidade e a interseção com o cuidado na prática profissional de enfermeiras

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the intersection between sexuality and nursing care as a social practice. It has a qualitative approach, having as theoretical reference the Feminist Theory of the Point of View and gender as an analytical category. It was developed with nine nurses from Barbacena, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The empirical material was produced through life stories and analyzed through critical discourse analysis. The results show that sexuality has a transversality that crosses the ways of caring in their different manners and places: from the direct care with the body of the other to the difficulties presented by some nurses to deal with situations that do not fit to socially accepted norms of heterosexuality.

Corroborating the results of this research, the literature points out that teaching in this area is focused on the aspects of anatomy and diseases, not with an emphasis on all the concepts of what sexuality is, which are essential for a comprehensive care to the client 8 .
