Objectives: To describe nurses' perception of the protection of patients' privacy during haemodialysis and analyse the differences based on sociodemographic variables and length of service. Methodology: A quantitative descriptive exploratory study was conducted with a sample of 452 nurses. The Escala de preservação da privacidade do cuidar em hemodiálise (Scale of privacy protection during haemodialysis) validated by the authors was used. Results:The results show that nurses believe that the protection of privacy during haemodialysis is very important. Female nurses highlighted the communication component, assigning higher importance to privacy protection care. The higher the number of years of experience, the higher the concern over privacy protection. Conclusion:The nurses, particularly female nurses, perceive «communication» and «care humanisation» to be priority dimensions in the protection of privacy during haemodialysis.

Objetivo: Caracterizar as dissertações e teses de enfermagem disponíveis no Banco de Teses da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) que versam sobre o cuidado em oncologia. Metodologia: Pesquisa documental realizada no Portal de Periódicos da CAPES, em fevereiro de 2013. Resultados: A amostra constituiu-se de 62 estudos, 47 (75,80%) dissertações e 15 (24,20%) teses. As universidades que mais produziram sobre a temática foram a Universidade de São Paulo, com 21 (33,87%) estudos e a Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro com 10 (16,12%) trabalhos. Prevaleceram as pesquisas qualitativas (56,45%). Foram elencadas as seguintes categorias temáticas: Humanização do Cuidado, Cuidado, Avaliação e estratégias de avaliação no cuidado de enfermagem e Saúde/Segurança do trabalhador. Conclusão: A maioria das pesquisas de pós-graduação na área oncológica concentra-se na região Sudeste, sendo os cursos de mestrado os que mais produziram nos últimos anos, destacando-se a abordagem qualitativa no desenvolvimento metodológico.

RESUMOA pesquisa teve por objeti vo conhecer o núcleo central das representações sociais de pacientes e enfermeiras(os) acerca do signifi cado de cuidar e tratar. Consiste em um estudo de natureza qualitati va, baseado na fundamentação teórico-metodoló-gica da abordagem estrutural das representações sociais. Parti ciparam do estudo 90 sujeitos. Aplicou-se um questi onário uti lizando-se a técnica de livre associação. Os dados foram analisados com o auxílio do soft ware Evoc. Os resultados revelam que as representações sociais de pacientes e profi ssionais acerca dos conceitos de cuidar expressam uma relação éti ca, sensível, solidária, afeti va e compromissada com a vida humana amorosa. Entretanto, as representações sobre o tratar apontam para diferentes signifi cados e disti ntas expectati vas. Conclui-se que a discrepância entre essas representações é bastante preocupante e merece atenção especial da categoria. Tal discrepância denuncia que o serviço oferecido pelos profi ssionais não sati sfaz à demanda e ao desejo dos pacientes. DESCRITORES ABSTRACTThe objecti ve of this study was to learn about the central nucleus of the social representati ons of caring and treati ng for pati ents and nurses. This qualitati ve study was founded on the theoreti cal-methodological framework of the structural approach of social representati ons. Parti cipants were 90 subjects, who answered a questi onnaire using the free associati on technique. Data analysis was performed using Evoc soft ware. Results show that the social representati ons that pati ents and professionals have of the concepts of caring express an ethical, sensiti ve, solidary, aff ecti ve and committ ed relati onship with a loving human life. However, the representati ons of treati ng point at diff erent meanings and diff erent expectati ons. In conclusion, the diff erence between these representati ons is rather concerning and deserves special att enti on. Such discrepancy denounces that the service that the professionals have delivered does not meat the demand and desires of pati ents.
