Fluid preload in obstetric patients. How to do it?

Abstract: 20%. Show more

“…We retrieved six manuscripts using the search strategy described. [10][11][12][13][14][15] One of these manuscripts compared a group that received fluid at the time of induction of anesthesia (coload) with a group that received a bolus both before and at the time of induction. 15 This study was omitted from the analysis.…”

“…31 These results could not be reproduced by Cardoso et al, who gave their patients a smaller volume of crystalloids (10 mLÁkg -1 ). 32 This suggests that a volume effect may exist, although other studies are required to confirm this hypothesis.…”

“…31,32 Dyer et al showed that rapid (ten minutes) co-loading with Ringer's lactate (20 mLÁkg -1 ) reduced the need for ephedrine and the incidence of hypotension, compared with a 20-min preloading regimen using the same volume. 31 These results could not be reproduced by Cardoso et al, who gave their patients a smaller volume of crystalloids (10 mLÁkg -1 ).…”
