“…To end this limited and brief historical overview of Dexiinae at the Neotropics, it is noteworthy that in recent times some Brazilian scientists working from South American institutions have been revising Neotropical dexiines and enhancing their knowledge, e.g., Nihei & Pansonato, 2006;Santis & Nihei, 2016;Santis, 2018;Dios & Santis, 2019;Santis, 2021;Alvarez-Garcia & Santis, 2021. Moreover, some dozens of new species -allied with some synonymies -based on morphology and COI sequences from the Area de Conservación Guanacaste in northwestern Costa Rica is being published in an effort to name and catalog all of the tachinid species reared by Dan Janzen's team from this region by the Canadians Alan J. Fleming and D. Montgomery Wood in various works (e.g., Fleming et al, 2015Fleming et al, , 2017Fleming et al, , 2020.…”

“…He usually provided information about morphology, distribution, taxonomy, collector(s) and any host records available for a particular species (e.g.,Cortés 1986). More recently, this trend was followed, and from the last, approximately 20 years, witnessed new taxonomic papers that increased the knowledge of the Neotropical Dexiini: the revision of Prophorostoma Townsend, 1927(Nihei & Pansonato 2006), with the description of a new species P. tomjobimi Nihei, 2006; revision of the genus Sturmiodexia Townsend, 1919, with Platyrrhinodexia Townsend, 1927 as a new synonymy (Santis 2022) and the revision of the genus Eudexia Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1889 (Santis 2021b), with Chaetocalirrhoe Townsend, 1935 and Cordillerodexia Townsend, 1927 as new synonymies. With these revisions, a new Dexiini was described, Eudexia lopesi Santis, 2021.The new scenario emerging is that when these vast over-split genera of Neotropical Dexiini is becoming better known, with the result of new generic synonymies, new species and genera are being discovered at the same time.…”
