Correlação entre população de microrganismos mesófilos aeróbios e acidez Dornic no leite humano ordenhado

Abstract: Objective: The study was designed to test for the existence of a correlation between the total population of aerobic mesophilic microorganisms in processed raw breastmilk from a human milk bank and the Dornic acidity of that milk. Methods:Two hundred consecutive samples of thawed expressed human breastmilk obtained from human milk bank, prior to pasteurization. Dornic acidity was titrated in triplicate for each sample. aerobic mesophilic microorganisms were then plate counted. Data were analyzed to detect corr… Show more

“…The exposure of newborns to pathogenic bacteria present in contaminated raw HM can lead to diarrhea, neonatal sepsis, meningitis, and necrotizing enterocolitis (Haiden et al, 2016, Keim et al, 2013. Moreover, high levels of contaminants in raw HM leads to decreased defense factors and bioavailability of nutrients since the contaminant microbiota uses these nutrients for survival (Novak & Cordeiro, 2007).…”

“…Thus, colostrum is rich in nutrients 11 , protective factors 12 and its quality can be evaluated under the nutritional, immunological and microbiological aspects. Moreover, physical-chemical stability is fundamental in preserving the characteristics of this secretion 13 . In this context, acidity plays a key role in maintaining such stability and intact nutrients content, besides immunological and biochemical components [13][14][15] .…”
