Comparação entre uma fórmula infantil pré-espessada e fórmula de espessamento caseiro no tratamento do refluxo gastroesofágico

Abstract: Objective: the purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of a pre-thickened infant formula (Nan AR) with a conventional homemade formula in the reduction of regurgitation and vomiting in infants with gastroesophageal reflux. Methods: a hundred children, under 12 months, not exclusively breast feeding, were select for the study. Forty-eight were treated with conventional formula with starch and 52 with pre-thickened infant formula. Results: there was no statistically significant difference between th… Show more

“…(14) Solidification of nutrients is considered to be an effective method for preventing gastro-esophageal reflux (GER) of such nutrients, and several studies have demonstrated that increasing their viscosity reduces the risk of GER in infants, based mainly on the number and frequency of regurgitation and vomiting. (5–7) Kanie and coworkers (8) previously demonstrated that half-solidification of nutrient was useful for decreasing GER in patients receiving PEG nutrition. Therefore, half-solidification of nutrients has been widely used to prevent aspiration pneumonitis in patients undergoing PEG feeding in Japan, although the efficacy of this approach has not been fully determined.…”

“…(14) Solidification of nutrients is considered to be an effective method to prevent gastro-esophageal reflux (GER) of fed nutrients, and several studies have demonstrated that increased viscosity of nutrients reduces the risk of GER of nutrients in infants by mainly counting the occurrences of regurgitation and vomiting. (5–7) However, the efficacy of solidification of nutrients for the prevention of aspiration pneumonitis in elderly patients with PEG feeding was not yet fully investigated. Kanie and coworkers previously demonstrated that half-solidification of nutrients was useful for decreasing GER of nutrients.…”
