Show more

“…Infected plants develop chlorosis along the veins which evolves later into a mosaic pattern. The circular double stranded DNA genome of the CVMV is encapsidated in 50-60 nm isometric particles which accumulate in inclusion bodies, in the cytoplasm of infected cells [28]. Based upon this information CVMV was listed as a putative pararetrovirus and a candidate member of the caulimovirus subgroup [23].…”

“…Carnation etched ring virus is serologically related to DMV and ClMV (Hollings & Stone, 1969), and both cassava vein mosaic (Kitajima & Costa, 1966) and a virus from Mirabilis nyctaginea (Mich.) Macmill. (Kitajima & Brunt, unpublished) have particles and properties similar to those of DMV and ClMV; the three are probably members of this group.…”

“…This has isometric particles, c. 50 nm in diameter (Kitajima and Costa, 1966) and the genome consists of ds-DNA, c. 8200 bases long. Initially CVMV was regarded as a tentative member of the caulimovirus group.…”
