EEG spectral cohrence inter and intrahemispheric during catching object fall task

Abstract: -The aim of the present study was to evaluate coherence measures at Theta through qEEG during the accomplishment of a specific motor task. The sample consisted of 23 healthy individuals, both sexes, with ages varying between 25 and 40 years old. All subjects were submmitted to a specific motor task of cacthing sequences of falling balls. A three-way ANOVA was employed for the statistical analysis, which demonstrated main effects for the following factors: time, block and position. However, there was no interec… Show more

“…such outcomes might be explained by the involvement of the right hemisphere with task perceptive and spatial processes. our find- ings are in agreement with previously observed results, which corroborate the hypothesis that the frontal area is engaged in cognitive processes (readiness and expectation) related to planning and execution 35 . Parieto-occipital results confirmed a main effect for the factor time.…”

“…An electromagnetic system, made of two solenoids, was positioned ahead of the subjects in order to send information about the pre and post fall time to the computer 12 . results demonstrated a theta absolute power increase in the post fall period, when compared to the pre fall period.…”

“…The qEEG acquisition was collected using the international 10/20 system 10 during 2 seconds before and after the ball's drop. This methodology has already been utilized in other experiment conducted in the Brain Mapping and sensorimotor Integration laboratory 11 . It was also done an electromyography (EMG) analysis in the experiment.…”
