Blastomicose do sistema nervoso

Abstract: 0 comprometimento do sistema nervoso por blastomicetos é eventualidade relativamente rara. Show more

“…Clinical features suggested spinal cord compression, transverse myelitis, signs of spinal root compression or involvement by arachnoiditis. 7,16 The diagnosis of NPCM is frequently difficult and a clinical suspicion should occur when a patient of systemic PCM has some neurological sign or symptom. 1 Brain CT or MRI features are common to all granulomatous diseases of the CNS.…”

“…However, these findings do not allow precise differentiation with other expansive lesions, especially tuberculotic or toxoplasmotic granulomas or even some types of neoplasias. The neuroradiological characteristics of intramedullary granulomas are also nonspecific 4,5,14,18,33 . Myelography and myelotomography demonstrate an enlargement of the spinal cord with full or partial blockade of the spinal canal.…”

“…The first report of NPCM in the spinal cord was published by Canelas et al in 1951. Since then, there have been 13 published cases, all of them from Brazil [13,16,21,22,24,26,[33][34][35][36][37]. The most frequently involved spinal cord levels are thoracic (58%), cervical (25%), and both (8%).…”
