“…In our study, a model of subcutaneous abscess was chosen because of its circumscribed nature and easy delineation on PET images, and because of its high accessibility for ex‐vivo analysis. This model is very simply obtained while injecting caecal contents subcutaneously in the flank from rodents . Two to 10 days later, it may be easily recognized as a tight nodule with signs of intense local inflammatory response and with neutrophil recruitment, interstitial edema, and disruption of epithelial integrity.…”
