Abstract

The editing of scientific journals in the field of Information Science has come a long way in Brazil and most journals in this field are open access. The publishing of the results of scientific activities, particularly in Information Science, are broadly open, favoring the process of knowledge construction. Access to systematic knowledge is imperative for scientific research.This process, however, is not without problems. A phenomenon that has attracted the attention of both scientific editors and funding agencies is research ethics. Indeed, good scientific practice has been widely discussed. Fraud in this field occurs in many ways: appropriation of parts of previously published papers without proper citation of sources, fabrication of the results of experiments, presentation of hasty conclusions, assigning authorship to collective works although contribution was not significant, among others.
