Urbanismo neoliberal, gestão corporativa e o direito à cidade: impactos e tensões recentes nas cidades brasileiras

Abstract

Resumo No contexto dos megaeventos recentes no Brasil – Copa do Mundo 2014 e Olimpíadas 2016 –, os projetos urbanos implantados indicam o fortalecimento do padrão corporativo de produção das cidades, em uma crescente hegemonia da lógica de rentabilidade, financeirização e gestão privada de bens e serviços coletivos, viabilizados por grandes investimentos públicos. Imprimem no espaço uma seletividade e exclusividade de uso e consumo de mercado, associado ao atual ciclo da globalização financeira e ao urbanismo neoliberal que se conforma. Tal processo traz notáveis mudanças na acessibilidade público-privado do espaço urbano, o que tem gerado fortes tensões na conquista social pelo direito à cidade como um bem coletivo no enfrentamento da segregação socioespacial e exclusão urbana, crescentemente ampliadas na atualidade.
