Show more

“…Sulfi tation during the hot-water extraction step can be used for this purpose. According to Bianche et al (2017), greater wood density means less porosity and hence less penetration of the adhesive in the wood structure. When the adhesive penetration is adequate, the contact surface area between adhesive and wood is also suitable for good mechanical anchoring of the adhesive (Frihart and Hunt 2010).…”

“…This method was used by Pimentel et al (2021), who evaluated the percentage of failure of seven species of tropical Amazonian wood bonded with PUR and PVA (polyvinyl acetate crosslink) adhesive. Bianche et al (2017) also used this method to evaluate the percentage of failure in eucalyptus wood glued with six diff erent types of adhesives, including castor oil-based bicomponent polyurethane.…”

“…Adhesive refers to the product that can maintain the connection between materials. Such a product has the function, in addition to the adhesion between materials, the fl uidity and fi lling of empty spaces between the joints, causing a decrease in the distance between them (Bianche et al, 2017).…”

“…This adhesive, free from formaldehyde in its composition, is extracted from the Ricinus communis seed, thus originating from a renewable source. It eliminates the need for paraffin emulsion, exhibits high mechanical performance, and has a lower curing temperature compared to formaldehyde-based adhesives, reducing electricity consumption in the industry (Bertolini et al, 2014;Bianche et al, 2017;Almeida et al, 2021;Galdino et al, 2023).…”
