In this paper, a compact configuration of zeroth-order resonator antenna is described. The unit cell zeroth-order resonator properties are introduced by composite right/left-handed transmission line approach is fed by coplanar waveguide. The proposed resonator is analyzed by changing the coupling space and stub length of the unit cell. The size of implemented resonator is (0.185 λ0 × 0.185 λ0 × 0.027 λ0) at the centre frequency. In this work, a zeroth-order resonator antenna design with enhanced bandwidth has been presented, and the size reduction by using the metamaterial inclusion. The proposed zeroth-order resonant antenna (ZORA) achieves a 64% reduction compared to a traditional λ/2 microstrip patch antenna. The bandwidth for the 10 dB return loss is 5.66 GHz (2.76 GHz to 8.42 GHz), the peak value of gain is 0.8 dBi and radiation efficiency of the designed antenna is 87% at 5.5 GHz. The return loss is about -59.48 dB at the center frequency. The competition among the simulated performances and other antennas shows that the proposed resonator achieves wide bandwidth. The performance of zeroth-order resonator antenna is evaluated by full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulator HFSS11.

The consumption of multimedia content is ubiquitous in modern society. This is made possible by wireless local area networks (W–LAN) or wire service systems. Bandpass filters (BPF) have become very popular as they solve certain data transmission limitations allowing users to obtain reliable access to their multimedia content. The BPFs with quarter–wavelength short stubs can achieve performance; however, these BPFs are bulky. In this article, we propose a compact BPF with a T–shaped stepped impedance resonator (SIR) transmission line and a folded SIR structure. The proposed BPF uses a T–shaped SIR connected to a J–inverter structure (transmission line); this T–shaped SIR structure is used to replace the λg/4 transmission line seen in conventional stub BPFs. In addition, a folded SIR is added to the short stubs seen in conventional stub BPFs. This approach allows us to significantly reduce the size of the BPF. The advantage of a BPF is its very small size, low insertion loss, and wide bandwidth. The overall size of the new BPF is 2.44 mm × 1.49 mm (0.068λg × 0.059λg). The proposed BPF can be mass produced using semiconductors due to its planar structure. This design has the potential to be widely used in various areas including military, medical, and industrial systems.

In this paper, a compact novel simple design of ultra-wide bandpass filter with high out of band attenuation is presented. The filter configuration is based on combining an ultra-wide band composite right/left-handed (CRLH) band pass filter (BPF) with simple uni-planar configuration of complementary split ring resonator (UP-CSRR). By integrating two UP-CSRR cells, the ultra-wideband CRLH filter roll-off and wide stopband attenuation are enhanced. The filter has 3 dB cutoff frequencies at 3.1 GHz and 10.6 GHz with insertion loss equals 0.7 dB in average and minimum and maximum values of 0.48 dB and 1.05 dB, respectively over the filter passband. Within the passband. The transition band attenuation from 3 dB to 20 dB is achieved within the frequency band 1.9 GHz to 3.1 GHz (48%) at lower cutoff and the frequency band 10.6 GHz to 11.4 GHz (7%) at upper stopband. Moreover, the filter has a wide stopband attenuation >20 dB in frequencies 11 GHz to 13.6 GHz (21%) and ends with 3 dB cutoff frequency at 14.8 GHz. Furthermore, the designed filter size is very compact (23 × 12 mm 2) whose length is only about 0.17 λ g at 6.85 GHz. The filter performance is examined using circuit modeling, full-wave simulations, and experimental measurements with good matching between all of them.
