“…At ICAR–Indian Institute of Soybean Research, India, a soybean variety NRC 142, free from KTI and lipoxygenase 2, has been developed through marker-assisted breeding ( https://iisrindore.icar.gov.in/pdfdoc/NRC142News.pdf ). In Brazil, a KTI-free variety UEL 175 has also been developed through marker-assisted breeding ( 201 ).…”

“…Both KTI and lipoxygenase‐2 genes are proteinaceous molecules, and their genetic elimination may cause changes in the level of protein content and storage protein fractions as suggested in earlier studies (Rani et al, 2020). Carpentieri‐Pipolo (2015) developed a specialty soybean UE 175 a lipoxygenase‐free soybean in KTI‐free background, but the authors did not investigate the removal of either of these genes on sprouting or the above‐mentioned relevant biochemical parameters. In the present study, Lox‐2 and KTI free soybean lines, developed by introgressing null alleles of Lox‐2 and KTI genes in the variety ‘JS97‐52’ through marker‐assisted backcross breeding, were investigated with the objective to study the effect of removal of each of these two undesirable genes from soybean seeds on the sprouting attributes, namely, number of normal seedlings emerged on first day, sprouting index (S.I.…”

“…SSRs consist of small repeat units (1-6 bp) distributed in tandem throughout the genomes and are easily detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR); they are relatively abundant, have extensive genome coverage, and require a low amount of DNA for amplification, there are 874 SSR markers assembled in ordered positions within the 20 soybean linkage groups. Thus, they have the potential to accelerate and simplify breeding efforts for soybean cultivars with improved flavor [13,14,15,20,21,22] .…”
