Mitigation of drought stress effects on soybean gas exchanges induced by Azospirillum brasilense and plant regulators

Abstract: RESUMOgrain filling and accelerated senescence (Vieira et al. 2013). The soybean crop has a water demand that varies from 450 mm to 800 mm during its cycle, with a greater need between flowering and grain filling (Souza et al. 2016). In order to tolerate drought stress, the plants developed adaptive strategies to reduce losses in low water availability resulted by PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Glycine max L., fotossíntese, teor relativo de água.

“…3). They sequester iron from the soil and transport it across the cell membrane in plant roots, making it unavailable for other non-beneficial microbes (Bulegon et al 2019). They also make a biofilm on the surface of roots and form soil aggregates to conserve water and maintain the moisture level of soil under water-limiting conditions (Ngumbi and Kloepper 2016; Table 1).…”

“…Furthermore, these inoculants are particularly beneficial in reducing abiotic and biotic stresses in developing crops ( Jambon et al, 2018 ). Several studies have highlighted the usefulness and benefits of microbe-based formulations in improving crop development and yield ( Huang et al, 2014 ; Gangwar and Singh, 2018 ; Bulegon et al, 2019 ; Evelin et al, 2019 ).…”

“…Endophytes interact with their plant hosts, generate positive reactions in their host plants in response to abiotic environmental challenges, and synthesise essential bioactive metabolites ( Khan et al, 2016 ). Several reports have described endophytic microorganisms which mediate beneficial traits/functions in their plant host ( Huang et al, 2014 ; Gangwar and Singh, 2018 ; Bulegon et al, 2019 ; Evelin et al, 2019 ).…”
