- Lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus L.) develops at an optimal temperature in the range of 20-30°C, temperatures above 30-35°C compromise the photosynthetic efficiency of the crop. Considering the importance of lima bean cultivation, the objective of this study was to carry out a morphoagronomic and phenological characterization of 46 lima bean accessions tolerant to high temperatures from the core collection of lima bean at the Universidade Federal do Piauí. The experiment was conducted from February to July 2021 in a completely randomized block design with four replications, where the plot consisted of a pot with two plants. Genotype characterization was performed based on 20 morphoagronomic and phenological descriptors of lima bean. Based on Pearson's correlation, the number of emitted and aborted flowers had a greater genetic correlation with the total number of seeds and pods produced. Pod length and width were positively correlated with seed thickness, length, and width. Five groups were formed based on UPGMA grouping. It was observed that the UFPI-922 and UFPI-945 accessions had a higher performance under high-temperature conditions in relation to the number of flowers and pods emitted, as well as lower values for the number of aborted pods. The accessions UFPI-1037, UFPI-876, UFPI-1036, UFPI-1028, UFPI-1052, UFPI-1064, UFPI-1038, and UFPI-1062 are promising for precocity, productivity, emission of flowers and pods formed, and can be used in breeding programs.

This study estimated the mean values of morpho-agronomic traits of Phaseolus lunatus L. through a systematic review and meta-analysis. Seven studies were selected through the systematic review, which encompassed a total of 104 genotypes. The selected traits were pod length and width, number of seeds per pod, grain yield, and 100-seed weight. In the exploratory analysis, normality, descriptive parameters, box-plot graph, and quantile-quantile plot of the data were evaluated. In the meta-analysis, the Q test and I² statistic were applied, and then, the combined effect model and fixed effect model were tested, using the Genes and R software. The data showed a normal distribution, and the box-plot graph indicated the need to remove some outliers. The quantile-quantile plot showed no publication bias. Q values were high for most traits, indicating that the studies were not homogeneous, and the random effects model was adopted. The combined estimates of pod length, width, number of seeds, grain yield, and 100-seed weight were 69.80mm, 16.29mm, 2.69, 395.97kg/ha, and 48.61g, respectively. The values obtained were precise, due to their similarity with the mean values, indicating that the methodology is adequate for generating mean values of agronomic interest.

Native Seed Banks of Communities (SBC) are one of the important social technologies that enables the coexistence with the climate in the Semiarid region of Brazil. These banks can supply appropriate seeds due to the genetic improvement carried out by farmers over generations, in addition to the traditional knowledge associated with them. The poor water distribution in part of the states in the Northeast region of Brazil makes family farmers to depend on rainfall and adapted seeds to grow viable crops. In this sense, native seeds are the most suitable due to their robustness and ideal adaptation to the environment and cultivation systems used in the region. Moreover, the conservation of native seeds in germplasm banks is an important strategy for minimizing the impacts of conventional agriculture. Thus, the objective of this study was to map seed banks of communities within the Piemonte Norte do Itapicuru Territory, state of Bahia, Brazil. The research was carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic and presented a qualitative character through a study case methodology. The steps for data collection were: identification of SBC through information from technical advisory entities; georeferencing of the SBC locations; and description of SBC specificities. Eight seed banks were mapped, distributed in three municipalities: Antonio Gonçalves, Campo Formoso, and Pindobaçu. Although the territory is composed of nine municipalities, six of them do not have this technology.
