Rutin restores adenosine deaminase activity in serum and the liver and improves biochemical parameters in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

Abstract: denosine deaminase (ADA) is a critical control point in the regulation of adenosine levels. This study aimed to investigate the effects of a polyphenolic flavonoid, rutin, on the activity of ADA in serum, the cerebral cortex, liver, kidney, and biochemical parameters in diabetic rats. The animals were divided into four groups (n=6) for the following treatments: control; diabetic (streptozotocin 55 mg/kg); diabetic with rutin (100 mg/kg/day); diabetic with glibenclamide (10 mg/kg/day). After 30 days, ADA activi… Show more

“…Our outcome in accordance with who found that diabetic animals that administrated rutin had a decrease of 20.5% in the glucose levels when contrasted and beginning treatment (p<0.05) [33] Renal illness is one of the most widely recognized and extreme difficulties of diabetes [34]. Our data found that the positive control group showed high elevation (p>0.001) in serum urea, creatinine, cholesterol and triglyceride (p>0.001) when compared to control group.…”

“…Bitencourt et al (29) reported that chlorogenic acid and rutin are the most abundant phenolic compounds in Syzygium cumini. In a previous study, rutin administration reduced the elevated ADA level of STZ-induced diabetic rats (31). S. cinerea contains many phenolic compounds such as chlorogenic acid, gallic acid, ellagic acid, and rutin (3).…”

“…Seu controle mostrouse importante para manter os níveis de adenosina corretos na circulação, garantindo sua atuação na prevenção de agregação plaquetária e complicações aterotrombóticas. Além disso, a melhora do estresse oxidativo e disfunções inflamatórias associadas a diabetes também são atribuídas ao retorno da AD ao níveis de atividade normais (11) .…”
