The challenge of teaching Physical Education from the perspective of republican and democratic education

Abstract

This essay aims to discuss and conceptually articulate Physical Education (PE) teaching presuppositions developed under the multidimensionality premise, under the republican and democratic education perspective. The text thematizes aspects that are decisive for this, emphasizing the multidimensionality of knowledge considering an educational praxis that comes along with a communicative teaching perspective, still having research as a pedagogical principle and structuring teaching processes in teaching units. Even recognizing that the explained proposal may not solve considerable problems in the area, we understand that taking it seriously can constitute an interesting way to make the debate about teaching PE from a republican and democratic education perspective deeper.
