Introdução: Com o aumento da longevidade, a população idosa passou a ser mais acometida por doenças crônicas não transmissíveis, bem como o seu acúmulo em um só indivíduo, também conhecido como multimorbidade, sobretudo, nos idosos que residem na zona rural. Objetivo: elaborar um protocolo de revisão de escopo para mapear a literatura acerca da multimorbidade em pessoas idosas residentes na zona rural. Metodologia: trata-se de um protocolo de revisão de escopo que, com base no manual do Joanna Briggs Institute e no PRISMA-ScR, partiu-se da seguinte questão norteadora: “o que há na literatura acerca da multimorbidade em pessoas idosas residentes na zona rural?”. Serão incluídos artigos, documentos oficiais, dissertações e teses após consulta nos seguintes locais: LILACS, PubMed, Embase, SciELO, Scopus, Web of Science e literatura cinzenta, utilizando o software rayyan para gerenciar os materiais selecionados. Não será determinado limite de idioma ou data. O processo de seleção será descrito na revisão. Resultados: Os resultados apresentarão os principais achados, limitações, impactos possíveis lacunas, e recomendações acerca das evidências científicas sobre multimorbidade no contexto de pessoas idosas que residem em área rural. Considerações finais: O estudo permitirá mapear o que se tem na literatura acerca da temática, uma vez que o protocolo em tela apresenta uma metodologia adequada ao propósito da revisão almejada.
