Validade e reprodutibilidade de inquérito telefônico de atividade física no Brasil

Abstract: Introduction: Physical activity in Brazil is assessed by the Telephone-based Risk Factor Surveillance System for Chronic Diseases (VIGITEL). Objectives: To evaluate the reliability and concurrent validity of VIGITEL physical activity indicators. Methods: For the reliability study, 305 individuals responded to VIGITEL interviews, which were repeated with intervals of 7 -15 days, in Belo Horizonte, 2013. The evaluated indicators included "sufficiently active on leisure time," "active in transportation," "inactiv… Show more

“…Self-reported data are usually used in large surveys of health conditions and lifestyles 42 due to the ease and low cost of obtaining them from large population samples 43 . Additionally, all investigations carried out up to the present moment have found good validity and reproducibility of the physical activity indicators (based on self-referred information obtained through a phone survey) 29,44 .…”

“…One aspect of the study worth emphasizing is its national scope and representativity of the population of Basic Education teachers in Brazil. We highlight that interpretations and comparability of scientific evidence must be cautious due to the use of different indicators for measuring physical activity 29 . The methodological design we used indicates the study's internal and external validity.…”

“…GPAQ is comprised of 19 questions measuring work-related, transport-related and leisure-time PA. This instrument has moderate to fair validity and good reliability across international and Latin American populations [11][12][13][14]. Data were processed in accordance to the GPAQ Analysis guide [15].…”

“…For each of these domains evaluated, physical activity practice scores were constructed by multiplying the weekly frequency by the duration time on the days the activity was performed. These questions follow the Vigitel questionnaire model, which assesses physical activity practice in leisure, work, and commuting, through a set of questions already used in international surveys and questionnaires used in the area (such as the International Physical Activity Questionnaire) [ 27 , 28 ]. In the present article, the participant who practiced less than 150 min per week of physical activity was considered physically inactive, considering the sum of the scores (in minutes) of AFL, AFD, and AFT [ 27 ].…”
