Recrystallization Study of the Al4.5wt%Cu Alloy Conventionally and Unidirectionally Solidified, Deformed and Heat Treated

Abstract: The Al4.5wt%Cu is an aeronautical and automobile alloy with extensive use in industry for structural purposes. The aim of this work was to evaluate two different solidification processes of the Al4.5wt%Cu alloy, conventional and unidirectional, as well as its recrystallization process. Firstly, the Al4.5wt%Cu alloy was deformed by cold rotary forging and then heat treated at temperatures that varied from 250 to 450 °C.
