Evaluation of Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Fique Fabric/Epoxy Composites

Abstract: The fique is a plant typical of the Colombian Andes, from which relatively common items are fabricated. One of these is woven fabric extensively applied in sackcloths. “…• Dynamic properties: The dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) test and the experimental modal analysis or measurement of the frequency response (FRF) are the tests that have been used the most to know the dynamic behavior of fique composites. Oliveira et al [75] with DMA analysis found that the incorporation of fique fibers increased the viscoelastic stiffness of the epoxy matrix composites, likewise the peaks in both the loss modulus (E'') and the delta tangent (tan δ), shifted towards higher temperatures as the amount of fique fiber increased. On the other hand, Gomez et al [45] in experimental modal analysis showed an increase in natural frequencies and in the damping of polyester matrix composite by increasing the amount of fique fiber used.…”
