Theoretical Analysis and Experimental Study on the Process of Conveying Agricultural Fiber Materials by Screw Conveyors

Abstract: To improve the conveying efficiency and working stability of a screw conveyor, the feeding methods, running conditions and flow characteristics of materials were studied by theoretical analysis and experiments. The theoretical analysis results show that the screw conveyor runs more stably when the helix angle of the screw blade is equal to the moving helical angle. A new spring-finger was designed by us and was used in the experiment. The experimental results show prove that the spring-finger feeder can help h… Show more

“…In deriving the mathematical model of the productivity and power consumption of the screw conveyor, the relation between pressure and density is used, which involves the compressible coefficient Co of the material, so it is necessary to study this coefficient (Wulantuya et al, 2020).…”

“…The conveying performance will directly affect the quality and productivity of the processing, and as well affect the performance of screw conveyor. Previous studies have shown that the mechanical properties of rubbed maize straw inevitably affect the working performance of screw conveyor (Wulantuya et al, 2015;Wulantuya et al, 2016;Wulantuya et al, 2020). While there have been few studies on the mechanical properties of rubbed maize straw, similar research on rice straw, crushed straw and soybean stalk is common (Chevanan et al, 2009).…”

“…Y. Yu and P. C. Arnold (1997) [7] conducted theoretical modeling and tests of driving torque requirement for a single screw feeder. Theoretical analysis and experimental research were carried out to improve the conveying efficiency and operation stability of a screw conveyor by Wulantuya et al (2020) [8]. Merritt and Mair (2008) [9] analyzed the movement of the conditioned soil in the spiral groove, based on the equilibrium conditions of the muck section during steady operation, and proposed a method for calculating the shear driving torque of the muck in the spiral tube.…”
